Here are some interesting news that I read online recently. Hope you like this tiny digest. Siri For iPhone That is one of the hottest news in tech world. A virtual assistant that can not only talk back to you, but do it with a certain amount of (Artificial) Intelligence. That is the dream of every Geek. Siri (pronounced /ˈsɪri/) is a personal assistant application for iOS. The application uses natural language processing to answer questions, make recommendations, and perform actions by delegating requests to an expanding set of web services. Siri claims that the software adapts to the user’s individual preferences over time and personalizes results, as well as accomplishing tasks such as making dinner reservations and reserving a cab.[1] via Siri (software) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Unfortunately, I don’t have Apple, and I prefer my Android phone and after some digging I came up with a few interesting applications …

What If – Selective Telepathic Mutation

What if… A genetic mutation allowed humans to communicate telepathically? – wait, there is a catch. You will have a predefined pool of 10 people with whom you can communicate. But the actual question is, would you rather marry someone with whom you are linked telepathically or someone who is telepathically linked with 10 other people, but not you? Some might argue that two people who are attuned to each other are likely to be together, and some might argue that mystery is what would keep them together. Hypothetically, if you are so in sync with another person, it might be impossible to get a tickle response from that person. It is possible that at first we might live with it because of how convenient it is, but would that kill what we call love? I read a Sci-FI where a few humans had gone to a distant planet. The …

Do you see an epic in the making?

Published in such a commercialized world might just turn out to be the undoing of Harry Potter. Would Rowling cave in to the pleadings of young and not so young fans, the demands of publishers and the lure of more money and start working on another series of Harry Potter as she has hinted? I am yet to see a movie that lived up to the hype of a book. Let me rephrase that, most movies based on books I have seen so far has disappointed me to a certain extend, except ‘Jurassic Park’. Even though the book was much better, the movie was good enough to keep you glued to the seat, with no threads hanging lose. When I think about it, almost all novels of Michael Crichton made into a movie has been able to live up to the hype. Now whether I should thank the screenwriter or …

To Kill a Mockingbird

Hey there… I am back again. There was a gap, just a couple of days. First was because I had lost internet connection due to some fault in the line. And yesterday I was reading a book. I am sure many people would be familiar with “To Kill a Mockingbird” by  Harper Lee. I had read it once before, but I had forgotten that I had read it. But it certainly was not a waste reading it. It carries a lot of messages. I will never bother trying to explain what the book is about or what I learnt from it. I could never do it justice and I may not be able to convey what exactly it is that the book conveys. But I am sure that I am enriched by reading it. Even though I may not be able to pinpoint it, I think I will remember about each …

The Third Twin – Ken Follett

I didn’t write anything last night. I was too sleepy. But what was there to write about… Well, I did read a book yesterday, actually read it for the 3rd time. The book was “The Third Twin” by Ken Follett. Not a bad book. But after reading a few of Ken Follett’s books I find that he writes to sell his books. He write about what is currently the most talked about topic and then make a story out of it.This books is a story of a guy who was wrongly accused for rape. But how could the victim identify him positively if he didn’t do it? That is the story. There is someone else who not only looks like him, but who has the same DNA. Is that the whole story? No. His twin is in jail. But there is another twist, his twin does not share his date …
