Rich man’s mobile

India is getting ready for 3G and I am waiting for N82 Black. I have to say I really surprise myself occasionally with my timing. I have been putting off buying a high-end cell phone because the features offered were not ‘mature’ enough. The camera was never a criteria, because without optical zoom it is next to impossible to take decent pictures at a distance. The last model I opted for was a second hand N-Gage. And when I decide to upgrade India is getting ready for 3G. I was quite impressed with the features offered with N82, and the price isn’t too expensive. Wi-Fi, GPS, large capacity, 3G ready… it is an impressive list and yes, it has a 5-mega pixel camera. I would have passed it and stayed on with my 10x optical zoom camera, except for the geo-tagging feature. But then, we aren’t talking about my views …

Because I had nothing better to do

I haven’t had viral fever in a long time, and I had forgotten how terrible and boring it can be. I have barely moved out of my room in the past 2 days and I find myself watching the Knight Rider series while in between checking the progress of Torchwood series that I am downloading. I have been downloading it for the past 3 or 4 days, and I am getting only a fraction of the speed available to me. Well, it is not the problem with the ISP, its just that there is only 1 seed and about 300+ people trying to download it. I am hoping it will be over today; I am down to the last 400 MB, 96% complete. Usually when I am sick, I found myself thinking a lot, but while thinking about it today, I found that this time I did not involve myself …

India blamed for food shortage, really?

“Bush theory rubbished”, that was the first headline I saw when I went to get some tea today morning. Reading further, I quote from the Sunday Express, “US President George W Bush joined Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in blaming the rising prosperity of India’s huge middle class for the spiralling(sic) global food prices”. So it really wasn’t Bush’s theory. Give credit where it is due, won’t you? But that incensed me, how could anyone blame us Indian middle class (and the Chinese)for making more money and spending it on food, does the rest of the world want us to be under nourished just because they didn’t want to spend more? I decided to dig deeper, and was I surprised! What did he say?He said there was scarcity in the world. He said there is no scarcity in USA, but it was costing Americans more to feed themselves, but Americans …

Baby Diaper Moustache

This is disgusting. There is no way I am going to put it on my blog, but at the same time I cannot ignore it either. The reason why I can’t ignore it is because it is obviously a publicity stunt, but I haven’t seen anyone mentioning it. You will notice that the guy does not try to get out of the ‘situation’. Guess people will do anything to get attention.

New sins, old virtues

As if we didn’t have enough rules to follow, Vatican has come up with 7 new sins. I forgot, deadly sins. How they managed to do it, I am not sure. From my catechism classes I was left with the impression that everything that you do is a sin. Look at a girl, you have committed adultery; don’t believe me? The thought is as bad as the deed, or so the Bible says. It also violates the commandment, “Thou shall not covet your neighbor’s wife” and, “Thou shall not commit adultery”. My teachers were so sure that God had chosen our soul mate and so anyone I look at is technically someone’s wife. The new list of sins include drugs, but my teachers had taught me that it violates the command “You shall have no other God before me” because if you become slave to drug, alcohol or any other …

A World War in Cricket?

I wasted my last two days at work reading the updates from down under. Bad umpiring, bad sportsmanship?, thrilling game of cricket and practically a war breaking out. It all started when bad umpiring robbed India from drawing the series and breaking the Australian winning streak. We will never know whether India would have won the match or not, but it is certain that India could have at least drawn the match. Let us be fair and give credit where it is due. Australia is a great team, and it has won practically everywhere, and winning against them is the ultimate satisfaction any team can have. During their previous winning streak, they had defeated all other test playing nation before their run was stopped by the Indian team. I am not trying to belittle any other team, but it is true that only the Indian team has the ability raise …
