I write ideas that strike me, sometimes just to remember them later, and just once in a while, you might find something useful. :-)

More on Intense Debate

Here is the follow up on intensedebate, the new commenting system that I have on my blog. I had signed up for beta testing so long back, that for a time I thought I would never be invited to test it out. Then one find day, I got an email giving me the link to install intensedebate on my blog. I checked the date to find that it was sent 9 days back. Blame it all on me and my habit of keeping different mail accounts for different purposes. I installed the comment system, only to find out that intensedebate has become open beta as soon as I installed it. That was really depressing. I had waited for so many months but anyone who signs up now can get it immediately. Well, that is how the cookie crumbles. Should I give a review about intensedebate? I don’t think so, because …

Intense Debate

I just got a major upgrade for my blog. Intense Debate, the new commenting system on the block, and guys, it really rocks. Check it out for yourself. It has imported all my previous comments to itself, and as I have enabled moderation new comments would not appear immediately. The best thing about intense debate is the threaded commenting system. But that is not all, with Intense Debate everyone can rate each other, so think twice before if you are thinking of writing something stupid. 😛But the feature that I think has more potential is actually a by product, if that is the right word. Regular users would be commenting on each others blog, and while it is possible without ID, here it becomes more personal, and streamlined.Got to go for work, so expect me to write more on this at a later time. In the meantime, maybe you should think about …

Happy Birthday

It was my friend’s birthday yesterday. There are friends who you remember when you see them, there are a few who you forget once you part, and then there are those really rare ones who you cant forget even years later. She is such a friend. I have not seen or heard from her in the past nine years, but year after year, I think of her on her birthday. I am sure she has changed a lot by now, but for me, she is still that 15-year-old girl, and that is how she is going to remain for the rest of my life. If I could go back and change my life, I would have made sure that we were friends, and had remained in touch. Unfortunately, I do not know where she is, what she is doing and I am sure that she does not remember me at …

Illithod

I had said that I would write about the bike trip I had yesterday, and frankly, I do not think I would be able to write well about the trip. It is not because I did not enjoy the trip, in fact I enjoyed it a lot. The problem is that I enjoyed it so much that it is difficult to put the feelings in words. We had gone to a place called Illithod, an Eco-tourism spot in Kerala. It is near Malayatoor, where St. Thomas is supposed to have climbed the hill. I still remember climbing that hill, and trying to see his footprints which are supposed to be imprinted on the rocks. The day didn’t start off well, and at a point I was ready to change the plan. I was travelling with 6 other friends from work, and we had only 3 bikes. After about one and …

Facebook is blocking me

It seems I am importing my blog too frequently. Obviously I would want to test the functionality of Facebook, and they should have built their software to check whether I am importing the same posts to test. I am not much impressed, but still the fact that I am able to import my blog makes me stick with it. I had one of the greatest time yesterday. I had gone to an eco-tourism spot with a few of my friends and had the best time in a long time. More on that in my next post, hopefully today evening.

Rain, beautiful rain

It has been raining heavily at Cochin for the past few days, but as usual, I was inside my room in front of my computer until today. Breaking my habit, I went out today when it seemed the rain was stopping. As luck would have it, it started raining while I was riding my bike. Let me tell you about the rains in Kerala. Usually in Kerala, when it rains, it pours. Kerala enjoys two rainy seasons. At this period of the year, it usually rains only during night. This is what a fellow blogger has to say about the rain in Kerala. “and Kerala rain is lovely and stormy and beautiful. The kind of rain poetry is written about, and the kind of rain, even in this day and age that you can run outside, head turned upwards and catch in your mouth,” While I do not agree with …
